Mary Ward Band & Mountains Youth Band to perform historic concert
Springwood Civic Centre, Wednesday 25th March 7.30pm, tickets at the door from 6.30pm
Mary Ward Catholic Secondary School Concert Band from Ontario, Canada is on a tour of Australia and will be performing a combined concert with Mountains Youth Band on Wednesday 25 March at Springwood Civic Centre. This is the first time in the history of Mountains Youth Band or Blue Mountains Concert Band that we have hosted a touring band from overseas.
Mary Ward Band has 85 instrumentalists in their concert band as well as a stage band made up of 19 members of their concert band. The concert on 25 March will feature some pieces played by Mary Ward Concert Band, some items featuring their stage band and some items featuring Mountains Youth Band. We will also be playing two pieces as a giant combined concert band – it’s sure to be an awesome sound!
The piece ‘Legends of the Yucatan’ will be premiered on the Australian tour by the Mary Ward Band and will be conducted by the composer. MYB will also be joined on the night by the pipers and drummers of the Hawkesbury City Pipe Band in a joint performance of "Highland Cathedral".
