Membership

The Mountains Youth Band is not a beginner band. Although some flexibility of membership criteria is permitted, the following guidelines are generally observed. Membership is open to instrumentalists who:

(a) have been playing for a minimum of two years, and/or,  have achieved AMEB Grade 1 or equivalent,
(b) are undertaking private lessons, or, agree to commence private lessons, and
(c) will turn a minimum of eleven years of age in the year they commence their membership of the band. 

Membership of the band brings with it a high level of commitment. Prospective members are encouraged to sit-in with the band for one or two rehearsals before they join. This provides an opportunity to meet the band and its leaders and to experience the repertoire before they join.
