Blue Mountains Concert Band and Mountains Youth Band serve the community at moving Dawn and Morning commemorative services 25th April 2026
Saturday 25th April 2026 at Glenbrook Panthers, supporting the services run by Blaxland-Glenbrook RSL sub branch, Glenbrook NSW.
Blue Mountains Concert Band and Mountains Youth Band combined together with about 40 instrumentalists to accompany the hymns and national anthems of Australia and New Zealand during two moving commemoration services held on ANZAC Day.
It is estimated that 2,000 locals attended the 6am outdoor Dawn Service, with the ANZAC address a poignant recount of personal stories of those who served and didn't return. Many wore medals from their family member in honour of their service.
The band's drum corps led the 10:15am well-attended march which mustered near Glenbrook Park near the shops, to cross the Great Western Highway, and to the Cenotaph, with RFS and emergency services closing the highway.
The 10:30am Morning Service then commenced, which was also well-attended by estimated 1,500 locals, current and returned service personnel, schools, community groups, Mayor Mark Greenhill and Trish Doyle, MP. During the wreath laying, two members of Mountains Youth Band laid a native wreath to represent our organisation and pay our respects. Bugler Matthew Carter, a past member of Mountains Youth Band, played the Last Post and Rouse at both services, which is always a solemn time of reflection.
After the morning commemoration service, all enjoyed a playout by the combined concert band of The Great Escape, The Dam Busters, The Man from Snowy River, and Colonel Bogey.
The aspect of community service is being passed down to our Mountains Youth Band members as they participate in annual important commemorations such as ANZAC Day services.
Lest We Forget.
