MYB open rehearsal - February 2026
Calling all youth musicians who play a concert band instrument – trumpet, tuba, euphonium, trombone, oboe, flute, clarinet, saxophone, bass guitar and percussion!
Mountains Youth Band is having an open day on Tuesday 24th February 2026. This is an Open Rehearsal where YOU ARE INVITED to come along with your instrument and join the band for one of their rehearsals.
Mountains Youth Band is a friendly band where players aged 10 to 19 years come from all over the Mountains, Penrith and Hawkesbury areas to join together and play music. The concert band leader is Rob Mattessi. Rob is a local high school music teacher who has trained in Australia and overseas. He brings an enormous amount of knowledge about music for young people and is committed to giving players in Mountains Youth Band the best experiences possible. His aim is to help musicians achieve their personal best on their instrument and in the group playing together, and to ensure everyone enjoys their personal music journey.
If you have been playing for at least a year and can read music, we would love to see you at the Open Rehearsal. You might have just finished primary school and want to continue on your instrument. You might want to build your skills beyond what you are learning at school or with your music teacher. You might just be looking for a music challenge! The band caters for all ages and abilities and there is no audition to join.
Come along on Tuesday 24th February to St Andrews Uniting Church hall in Lucasville Rd, Glenbrook at 5:15pm. The rehearsal ends with a supper for players and families at 6.45pm.
For catering and to make sure we have music parts for you: please email Marion at myb@bmcb.net.au if you are planning on coming along. To learn more about Mountains Youth Band, you can visit www.bmcb.net.au.
