End of year celebrations - December 2025
On Tuesday 16th December, Mountains Youth Band performed a concert for families as part of the band’s annual Presentation Night. Conducted by Dave Clayton, the band played Minka’s Sleigh Ride, The Prince of Egypt, and Dr Who. It was an exceptionally polished performance showing the talent of this wonderful young band. The evening also included presentation of various awards including commitment to band, most improved player and best new talent. Each band member was the recipient of an award recognising their achievement. We are delighted to announce that the 2025 Mountains Youth Band Instrumentalist of the Year is Levi (pictured below). Congratulations to Levi and all band players. The families, guests and band players enjoyed a supper after the ceremony to end a great year.
Later in the evening, members of the adult Blue Mountains Concert Band shared a meal and get-together to celebrate the events of the past year. An inaugural award of Commitment to Band was presented to three long-serving instrumentalists, with many years of commitment through administration, committee and other tasks that have ensured the extraordinary success of our bands and organisation over many years. The recipients of this award for 2025 are Frank Fornasari, Alan Johnson and Kath Weston (pictured below). They were each presented with a badge displaying the band logo to be worn at band events. Congratulations and many thanks to these band members. Alan Johnson thanked the BMCB committee for their tireless work throughout the year. Bring on 2026!
