EPIC! CONCERT SUCCESS - 20 September 2025
Blue Mountains Concert Band and Mountains Youth Band, with guest musicians, performed a spectacular concert titled EPIC! at Blue Mountains Theatre on Saturday 20th September 2025. Special guests Kate Woolfe and Brendan O’Reilly performed jazz vocal items, which included unique performance opportunities for our percussion section and youth musicians. A program of music representing well-known and famous tunes from across the decades was presented to an appreciative audience of some 270 patrons, under the direction of conductor, Dave Clayton.
The stand-out hit of the night was Vince Gassi’s Legends of the Yucatan, a beautiful arrangement based on Mayan culture. However, all pieces were met with enthusiastic applause and calls for more. Epic music themes from past decades, such as Lawrence of Arabia, Chicago and Dam Busters March, were performed alongside more contemporary arrangements such as Prince of Egypt, How to Train your Dragon, Alice in Wonderland and a compilation of fantastic music from the world of gaming. Also performed were Chariots of Fire, Nessun Dorma and Dr Who (with theremin!).
The concert was exciting, outstanding and fabulously enjoyable for the performers and audience alike! The bands received many congratulations, and the calls for an encore did not disappoint - Mission Impossible was a great ending to a fabulous concert. We are very grateful for the support provided by our volunteers, guests, families and friends.
